Thank you to everyone who participated in the 2024 Summer Reading Program! We had a grand total of 389 readers who participated across all age groups, our best year yet! For our adventurers who brought Flork along with them this summer, we loved seeing all the places you went! You really showed our extra-terrestrial friend a good time this summer. You took him out to the ballgame, to the movies, bowling, mini golfing, and even taught him how to play pickleball. He learned that here in New Jersey we don’t pump our own gas, and experienced shore traffic on the Garden State Parkway. He brushed up on his Martial Arts, tried out rock climbing, and learned how to swim. Flork went on a cruise, went camping, hiked the Appalachian Trail, and reveled in the natural splendor of Lake George, Niagra Falls, and the Delaware Water Gap. He took a horse and buggy ride in Lancaster, PA and sampled salt water taffy in the Outer Banks. (Following that he needed his teeth cleaned at the dentist). He spent lots of time on the Jersey Shore, and enjoyed beach days in Long Beach Island, bay days on Seven Mile Island, and of course some shopping in Cape May. He caught a Broadway show and fought the crowds in Times Square before taking in some art uptown at the MoMA. Flork also stayed local, enjoying days by the pool, walks around town, picnics in the park, Gazebo concerts, some good eats at the local diner, and of course the famous Florham Park 4th of July celebration. He also traveled far! He went all the way to Tai Pei, Tokyo, and Sydney! But he’s probably happiest at home here at the Florham Park Library, reading with his friends. Thanks for all the memories, and see you next summer!
